Details of the indictment prepared for Dilan and Engin Polat have been revealed

Details of the indictment prepared for Dilan and Engin Polat have been revealed

The investigation into Dilan and Engin Polat and their relatives on charges of money laundering has been completed. 

The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Terror and Organized Crime Investigation Bureau, identified the couple Dilan and Engin Polat as the most critical figures in the 75-page indictment prepared for 28 suspects.

FROM THE INDICTMENT

According to the report by Arzu Kaya from Sabah, the prosecution requested that Dilan and Engin Polat be sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison each for three separate crimes: 4 to 8 years for ''establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime,'' 9 to 21 years for ''laundering assets derived from crime,''

4 to 6 years under the clause of ''providing the opportunity to play games of chance based on sports competitions held abroad via the internet'' for the crime of ''violating the Law No. 7258 on the Regulation of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions,''

and up to 5 years for the crime of ''acting as an intermediary for the transfer of money in connection with fixed-odds or mutual betting or games of chance based on sports competitions.''

SENT TO COURT

The prepared indictment was sent to the Istanbul Anatolian 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. It was stated that the indictment, which is currently in the court process, is in the evaluation phase.

It was noted that the court will legally evaluate the indictment within 14 days, and if accepted, the trial of a total of 28 suspects, 5 of whom are in custody, will begin in the near future.
