Details of the scandal pointed out by Özel at the Arnavutköy rally: He exposed the AKP municipality
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had revealed the scandals in the AKP-run municipality one by one during his rally in Arnavutköy. The details of the scandals in the Arnavutköy Municipality, under the administration of AKP Mayor Mustafa Candarlıoğlu, have now emerged.
Speaking at Arnavutköy Republic Square, the CHP Chairman stated that upon a complaint filed in October 2024, the Gaziosmanpaşa Prosecutor's Office had issued an instruction to the Arnavutköy Municipality to demolish an illegal structure in Hadımköy.
ALLEGATION OF FALSE STATEMENT
Özel stated that last June, in response to the prosecutor's office's inquiry to the AKP-run municipality asking, "Have you demolished the illegal structure?", Deputy Mayor Davut Palalı replied, "The structure causing zoning pollution has been removed."
However, according to Özel, the 300-meter additional illegal structure was not demolished. The CHP Chairman spoke on the matter as follows:
"Hadımköy, Yeşilbayır. We are giving the parcel number, Akın, write it down. Parcel 10835. An additional 300-meter enclosed area was built here illegally. It became the subject of a complaint, and the court said 'Demolish it.' When it said this, it was October 2024. The GOP Prosecutor's Office asked in June, 'Have you demolished the illegal structure?' Deputy Mayor Davut Palalı replied, 'The structure causing zoning pollution has been removed.' A false statement was written. There is interference with the judiciary, there is a false statement to the prosecutor's office. Are you going to take Deputy Mayor Davut Palalı, who did not demolish the building you said to demolish, from his home in the morning?"
ALLEGATION THAT "THE AKP MAYOR AND HIS DEPUTY RAISED THE VILLA IN VIOLATION OF ZONING"
Following this, the CHP Chairman made another allegation that will be talked about for a long time.
Speaking at the well-attended rally in Arnavutköy, Özel said that AKP Arnavutköy Municipal Council Member Ercan Döner and Mayor Mustafa Candarlıoğlu wanted to illegally raise the height of a villa they built on a plot of land they purchased on the 'Kanal Istanbul' project route, but encountered opposition from two civil servants.
Claiming that the civil servants who opposed the AKP figures were reassigned and that the civil servants brought in to replace them gave a positive response to the project in question, Özel addressed Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek and said:
"Mayor Mustafa Candaroğlu and Council Member Ercan Döner bought a plot of land with a view of Kanal Istanbul. They said, 'The President is touring by helicopter. He is pointing out the coupons. Son, Ercan, let's grab a plot too.' They went and got the villa permit from the municipality for that place. While they were building the basement floor, the devil tempted them."
"They went and raised the villa in violation of the zoning. They went to the civil servant. You know, there was a civil servant named Teoman, like him. They told civil servant Serdar and civil servant Fatih to sign it. They said this signature would burn a man and did not sign it. They resisted for months. They reassigned the civil servants. They brought in a civil servant to replace them and got the signatures. The villa is still standing there. Are you going to take Mustafa Candaroğlu and Ercan Döner from their homes at 6:30 tomorrow morning? Let's see."
SALE AT A LOSS
Finally, CHP Chairman Özel also alleged that the Kelebek Printing House, built by the then-Hadımköy Town Municipality, was sold at a loss to AKP Provincial Executive Burak Aydın in 2016 after it was transferred to the Arnavutköy Municipality, and spoke as follows:
"Hadımköy Industrial Zone, during the Hadımköy Town Municipality period, they built a structure on an 8,000-square-meter plot with a build-operate-transfer model called Kelebek Printing House. A construction on an 8,000-square-meter plot. When they closed the town municipalities, this municipality, Hadımköy Municipality, was transferred to the Arnavutköy Municipality. The Kelebek Printing House on the 8,000-square-meter plot was also left to them."
"In 2016, the Arnavutköy Municipality sold this place, both the 8,000-square-meter plot and that huge Kelebek Printing House. For how much? 251 million. To whom? To AKP provincial executive Burak Aydın. Well, the value of the land is 215 million. The value of the structure on it is 220 million. The total value is 435 million. The amount paid by the AKP provincial executive is 250 million. The public loss is 185 million. The place is known, the location is known, the Kelebek Printing House is there, the public loss is here."
