Details of the 'Substitute MP System' in the new draft law: Citizens to have the right to 'sign for non-representation'
In a live broadcast, lawyer Rezan Epözdemir stated that the new draft law would allow citizens to go to the Supreme Election Council (YSK) and sign against an MP they do not want. Noting that the system operates in some European countries, Epözdemir stated, "This is the draft of the Presidential Legal Policies Board itself."
Is a substitute MP system being introduced? Speaking during a live broadcast, lawyer Rezan Epözdemir stated that the new draft law would allow citizens to go to the YSK and sign against an MP they do not want.
Epözdemir provided important clues regarding the 'Substitute MP System' draft during a TV100 live broadcast.
Explaining the details of the system, Epözdemir said, "These regulations are in the new constitution; this is the draft of the Presidential Legal Policies Board itself. There is a right of recall in some European countries."
Epözdemir stated the following regarding the matter:
"THEY WILL GO TO THE YSK AND SIGN"
"Citizens in that electoral district will be able to go to the Supreme Election Council once and provide a signature. They will say, 'I do not want this MP, I am not satisfied.
They have been serving for 2 years, but they have not reflected my sensitivities. Let them not represent us in Parliament.'
They will be able to do this with 20 percent. A substitute MP system is coming to Turkey now.
The substitute MP nominated by the parties. The 1st substitute from that party will take their place.
