'Radical organization and drug' details regarding the attack in Levent: A multi-layered provocation attempt

Security sources emphasized that the identified individuals had criminal records for both links to radical organizations and drug use, and that the current findings indicate the attack may be a multi-layered provocation attempt rather than an isolated incident.

Noting that the location of the attack and the choice of target are noteworthy, the sources reminded that the Israeli Consulate General has been closed for a long time and is not conducting active diplomatic operations.

On the other hand, speaking to journalists after the terrorist attack on the police, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül had stated, "An attack occurred against our police officers who were taking security measures in front of the Yapı Kredi Plaza in Levent. As a result of the attack, 2 of our police officers were slightly injured. One of the terrorists was killed, and 2 terrorists were neutralized while injured."

"MAY CREATE A SENSE OF FEAR AND INSECURITY"

For this reason, the sources, pointing out that visual content should be used at a minimum level, stated that unverified and raw footage should not be circulated.

The sources warned against using expressions that would distort the nature of the incident, divert the target, and prepare the ground for provocative perceptions, stating that presenting the attack as being "directed at the Israeli Consulate General" would directly serve both the perception the attackers wanted to create and the manipulations that could be carried out in the international public opinion.

Noting that broadcasts emphasizing a "diplomatic target" do not align with reality, the sources pointed out that the uncontrolled and intensive sharing of footage from the moment of the conflict would create a sense of fear, panic, and insecurity in the public, and would fuel the perception that there is a high-intensity terrorist threat in Turkey.
