Detained as part of IMM operations: Büyükçekmece Mayor was targeted months ago
Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün was detained as part of a corruption investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). It has emerged that Akgün was targeted by AKP supporters on social media months ago.
Within the framework of the corruption investigation conducted into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), four separate investigations were launched, including one involving Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who is alleged to be the leader of a criminal organization.
In this context, detention warrants were issued for a total of 47 people regarding the Büyükçekmece Municipality and the Beşiktaş Municipality Culture and Social Affairs Directorate.
Among those detained is Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün. Following Akgün's detention, a post made 14 months ago by a social media user named Emre Erciş has resurfaced.
Erciş had made striking statements, claiming that Akgün would be arrested.

During the March 31, 2024 local elections, Emre Erciş made a post on his social media account in which he used words implying that Akgün would enter prison within a year.
