Detained journalists Seda Selek and Serhan Asker released!

Halk TV Managing Editor Serhan Asker and Halk TV presenter Seda Selek have been released under judicial control, including a travel ban and a requirement to sign in.

Journalist Barış Pehlivan was detained after conducting an interview with an expert witness, identified as S.B., whom Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu had recently claimed in a press conference was linked to the lawsuits and investigations opened against him. Pehlivan, who had gone to the Halk TV Istanbul studio for the new episode of the program "Kayda Geçsin," which airs on Tuesday evenings on Halk TV, was taken into custody by police teams who arrived at the channel hours before the broadcast and was taken to the Vatan Police Headquarters.

Shortly after Pehlivan was detained, Serhan Asker, the host of the program "Görkemli Hatıralar" and the Managing Editor of Halk TV, was also detained at the airport. Finally, a detention order was issued for Halk TV presenter Seda Selek on the grounds that she was on air when the interview Pehlivan conducted with the expert witness S.B. was broadcast.

RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL

Following her procedures at the police station, Seda Selek was referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan, where a request was made for her release under judicial control. The prosecutor decided to release Selek with a travel ban and a requirement to sign in.

Serhan Asker, whose procedures were handled in Ankara, was also released under the same conditions of a travel ban and a requirement to sign in after his procedures were completed.

Barış Pehlivan is currently being held in the detention center on the -7th floor of the Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul following his statement. The decision regarding Pehlivan is expected to be made once the statements of Halk TV Editor-in-Chief Suat Toktaş and Halk TV Programs Manager Kürşad Oğuz are completed.
