Detention order for manager of hotel visited by İmamoğlu
A detention order has been issued for the manager and the security manager of the hotel where Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu held meetings.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that a detention order has been issued for Sinan Udil, the manager of the hotel visited by CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu—who is currently detained in Silivri as part of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) investigation—and the hotel's security manager, Osman Gündüz Bora Oğurlu, on charges of 'destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime'.
"TAPING IS A ROUTINE PRACTICE, THERE ARE JAMMERS IN THE SUITCASES"
Çağlar Türkmen, a member of İmamoğlu's private security detail who is currently in custody, had also responded to questions during his police statement regarding the taping of security cameras in the hall where İmamoğlu was to hold a meeting at a hotel, as well as the suitcases being carried.
Türkmen stated that he was the person carrying the suitcase in the footage and that it contained a jammer device.
Regarding the taping of the security camera, which has been widely debated in the public eye, Türkmen said the following:
"I am the person who put tape on the cameras located on the meeting floor. The camera footage was blocked because Ekrem İmamoğlu was going to come here. Because of the leak of footage of İmamoğlu at a restaurant called Balıkçı Kahraman to the press previously, camera footage at places where İmamoğlu will go is subsequently taped over and the camera is prevented from recording. This decision was taken by Ekrem İmamoğlu's security team. Since it is a procedure done routinely, no one gave an instruction; I taped the camera myself."
