The observation period for Bedirhan Şener, the son of former minister Abdüllatif Şener, who killed his grandmother Leyla Çetiner by taking her hostage with a firearm following an argument between them on July 31 in Ankara, has been extended by another 3 weeks at the High-Security Forensic Psychiatry Hospital of Bilkent City Hospital.
NOTED THAT HE IS NOT OF SOUND MIND
Following the incident, Bedirhan Şener, who was stated not to be of sound mind, was referred to Bilkent City Hospital under judicial control and a travel ban, and was placed under observation for a period of 3 weeks.
Regarding Şener, whose observation period ended today, the hospital reported that his follow-up and treatment must continue in order to prepare a definitive opinion report.
Upon this, the Ankara 2nd Criminal Judgeship of Peace decided to extend the observation period for another 3 weeks to determine whether Şener is mentally ill, and if so, since when this condition has existed and its effect on his behavior.
