According to the report by Haber Global; in the Newborn Gang case, where 47 defendants are being tried in Istanbul for allegedly transferring newborn emergency patients to the neonatal units of private hospitals they had pre-arranged with, causing their deaths, and obtaining illicit gains, the defense attorneys' requests for the recusal of the judge were rejected by the 23rd High Criminal Court. The higher court decided that the trial should continue with the same panel at the 22nd High Criminal Court.
