Devlet Bahçeli defends Süleyman Soylu: 'The MHP stands behind him to the end'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli reacted sharply to the allegations and news reports claiming that arrested crime syndicate leader Ayhan Bora Kaplan had links to former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.

"THIS IS NOT FAIR TREATMENT"

Bahçeli, in a statement made via his social media account regarding the operation against the gang led by Ayhan Bora Kaplan, said the following without naming names:

"Subjecting Mr. Soylu to suspicion under the pretext of alleged connections and associations following an operation carried out against an individual facing many accusations, and keeping him under a constant cycle of provocation and harassment, is neither an honorable behavior nor is it fair, legal, or equitable treatment."

Regarding the operation and the comments made about the mentioned names, Bahçeli issued the following call:

"It is beyond any explanation that collaborative and peddler-like journalists and commentators, who are determined to polish, highlight, fortify, and reward the stakeholders of the 'alliance of humiliation' before the Local Administration Elections, are severely harming democracy and human dignity. Whatever they know, it is an inevitable requirement of the rule of law for Public Prosecutors to learn it and take the necessary action."

"THE MHP STANDS BEHIND MR. SOYLU TO THE END"

In his statement, where he claimed that the matter had nothing to do with Soylu, the MHP leader used the following expressions:

"The effort of guided individuals, who have made a banner of Soros-supporter Kavala and terrorist Demirtaş and who clash with all national and spiritual values for the sake of newly emerged rights claims, to constantly show Mr. Soylu in illegal relationship networks with which he has no connection is the ultimate form of slander and the sheer pinnacle of vulgarity. For those who do not know, I must state again that Mr. Süleyman Soylu has become a figure belonging to the Turkish nation, who did not sit in his chair for a second during his ministry, traveled across mountains and hills, and made the separatist terrorist organization suffer. In this respect, the Nationalist Movement Party, as a requirement of loyalty and political morality, stands behind Mr. Süleyman Soylu to the end."
