Diamond Tema's 'Diyanet' statement: 'There is no end to the death threats I receive'

YouTuber Diamond Tema, who announced that an investigation was launched against him by the Directorate of Communications for "insulting a segment of the public and religious values" following a program where he debated Sharia with social media influencer Asrın Tok, said, "If I had lost the debate, even if I had said things 10 times harsher than the expressions I used, it would not have been a problem, and no one would have dwelled on it."

Speaking to journalist Fatih Altaylı, Diamond Tema explained the situation, stating, "In the debate, we discussed whether Sharia is a good form of governance, and my opponent was weak, which I think caused a fear in some that 'the religion is slipping away.' That is why tons of tweets are being sent, both saying I should be killed and making posts demanding my imprisonment, by operation accounts targeting me."

'THE INFIDEL WOULD HAVE BEEN PUT IN HIS PLACE'

Stating, "There is no end to the death threats I receive," Diamond Tema added the following:

"The incident is entirely about covering up a Muslim losing a debate to an infidel and the government trying to appease a segment it aspires to. They will satisfy people by having me punished. However, I did not use any expression that is wrong either legally or religiously. I did not insult, I did not disparage, and I did not slander. I used sources that the Diyanet and all Muslim clerics call authentic. If there is an insult, they should file a lawsuit against the Diyanet in this case.

But I know that is not the issue. If I had lost the debate, even if I had said things 10 times harsher than the expressions I used, it would not have been a problem, and no one would have dwelled on it because they would have been able to have fun by saying, 'The infidel was defeated, the Muslim won.' The infidel would have been put in his place.

What I understood from these debates is this: Actually, these people's problem is not with me; they clearly do not like the religion they believe in. Or they do not know the sources of the religion they believe in.

Actually, what I read is not even a verse; I showed a section regarding Prophet Muhammad's marriage to Aisha from a book published by the Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) that contains hadiths accepted as 'sahih,' meaning authentic and unquestionable, and said, 'Does this seem moral to you? It doesn't to me.' And legally, saying this is not a crime. Religiously, there is nothing I made up here either. Many people who know Arabic and are considered scholars on Islam, like Nurettin Yıldız, also argue that this is true. But because they are Muslims, the issue can be forgotten. As for me, I am being silenced because I am an infidel. The issue is actually that simple."
