Did he get wind of the Habertürk operation in advance? Rıdvan Dilmen, known for his closeness to Erdoğan, left abruptly
Following the operation targeting Can Holding and its 121 subsidiaries, Rıdvan Dilmen's sudden departure from his position at Habertürk 6 days ago has drawn attention. Questions have arisen in the public eye as to whether he knew about the operation in advance.
It has emerged that former national football player and sports commentator Rıdvan Dilmen resigned from his position as Sports Coordinator at Can Media and his commentary role at Habertürk on September 5 with a sudden decision.
Dilmen, known by the nickname "The Devil" (Şeytan) during his playing career, left Habertürk just 6 days before a trustee was appointed to Can Holding, a timing that has drawn attention.
In an Istanbul-based operation conducted this morning, 121 companies affiliated with Can Holding were seized upon the instructions of the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The management of media outlets including Habertürk, Show TV, Bloomberg HT, and HT Spor has been transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). As part of the operation, detention warrants were issued for 10 individuals, including Can Holding executives Mehmet Şakir Can, Kemal Can, and Kenan Tekdağ.
ANNOUNCED HIS DEPARTURE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Rıdvan Dilmen announced his departure from HT Spor on September 5 via a statement on his social media account. In his statement, Dilmen included the following remarks:
"My journey at HT Spor ends as of today. I would like to sincerely thank all my broadcasting colleagues I worked with during this process, everyone who contributed, and most importantly, our valued viewers who watched and followed us."
THE QUESTION: "DID HE GET WORD OF THE OPERATION IN ADVANCE?"
Following the operation against Can Holding, Rıdvan Dilmen's sudden departure has brought question marks to the public agenda. Dilmen's closeness to the Erdoğan family and his unexpected farewell to Habertürk have led to comments asking, "Did he know about the operation in advance?"
Rıdvan Dilmen has also been on the agenda in the past with his political statements. Known for his support of the AKP government, Dilmen had publicly declared his stance, particularly before the 2017 Presidential Referendum, with the words, "I also say yes for a strong Turkey."
