Did the US make a Maduro proposal to Turkey?
Hakan Fidan made important statements regarding the US operation against Venezuela. He emphasized that no proposal for Maduro to come to Turkey has been made.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in his remarks evaluating the agenda on TRT Haber, assessed the US's recent military operation against Venezuela and the proposals made to President Nicolas Maduro. Fidan stated that they are aware that the Americans offered Maduro a proposal saying, "You can go wherever you want, you can leave whoever you want in your place, we will not touch the system, but we will not work with you."
NO PROPOSAL RECEIVED FOR MADURO TO COME TO TURKEY
Fidan also clearly stated that they have never received any proposal or request from the US regarding the Venezuelan leader coming to Turkey. "We have not received any question or proposal regarding Maduro coming to Turkey," said Fidan, explaining that there have been no official discussions on this matter.
REMINDED OF DISCUSSIONS WITH THE US
Fidan also touched upon the details of the discussions conducted regarding Venezuela after the Trump era in the US. "They asked for our help at that time, requested a meeting, and we stated that we were ready to mediate," he said. However, he noted that the discussions did not reach a conclusion and the situation between the US and Venezuela has worsened further.
SANCTIONS AGAINST VENEZUELA HAVE INCREASED
Stating that the sanctions imposed on Venezuela by the US and other countries have deepened the disputes between the countries and that the Maduro administration is becoming increasingly isolated in the international arena, Fidan said, "The last time I counted, nearly 70 countries do not recognize the Maduro administration."
Regarding the US military operation against Venezuela, Hakan Fidan emphasized that America has begun to use force in this process and that the negotiations have yielded negative results. "Unfortunately, this resulted in this undesirable event," he said, expressing that Turkey is always in search of a solution to prevent the tension between the two countries from spreading further.
