Dilan and Engin Polat back in court: Second hearing has begun!

The trial of 28 defendants, including Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat—who were arrested on money laundering charges, face up to 40 years in prison, and were released following an interim court decision—is continuing. The second hearing of the case is being held at the Anatolian 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance in Kartal.

It was requested that the 28 defendants, including Dilan and Engin Polat, 4 of whom are currently detained, be sentenced to between 20 and 40 years in prison for the crimes of "establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "laundering assets derived from crime," and "violating the law on the regulation of betting and games of chance in football and other sports competitions."

THEY HAD BEEN RELEASED

In its interim decision, the court had ordered the release of the detained defendants Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, Alper Kürşat Polat, and Ahmet Gün.

Dilan Polat, Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, Kürşat Polat, Sıla Doğu, and Can Doğu attended the second hearing of the case held at the Anatolian 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance.

Some defendants who are not in custody and the lawyers for the parties were present in the courtroom. Detained defendant Emre Çiftçi participated in the hearing from Edirne E-Type Closed Prison via SEGBİS (Audio and Video Information System). The hearing began at approximately 10:30 AM.
