Prison sentence requested for Dilan Polat and her sister Sıla Doğu: Charged with 'lewd acts'

The investigation into Dilan Polat and her sister Sinem Sıla Doğu, who were seen kissing on the lips while dancing at an entertainment venue in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, on October 17, 2024, with the footage subsequently shared on social media, has been completed.

In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Dilan Polat and Sinem Sıla Doğu are listed as 'suspects'.

"IT HAPPENED WHEN SHE TURNED AS I WAS GOING TO KISS HER CHEEK"

The indictment includes the statement of suspect Dilan Polat, who said they were celebrating a close friend's birthday on the day of the incident, stating, "My sister Sıla has been like a mother and father to me. We were constantly together during the time we spent in prison. It happened when she suddenly turned as I was about to kiss her on the cheek. Nothing other than a sisterly relationship can be thought of between us.

Our friends at the entertainment venue recorded a video. They likely published it on social media without realizing the situation. As a result, it became news. When I woke up in the morning and realized the situation, I apologized to everyone in the eyes of the public.

I also made posts on social media, but I do not remember making such a post. It is impossible for me to share such a thing anyway. My sister is like a mother to me; they made it into news by slowing down the shared video in a way that could imply different meanings," she said.

SHE STATED IT WAS AN INNOCENT KISS

In the indictment, it was noted that suspect Doğu stated in her testimony that they kissed for 2 seconds as a reflex, that this was an innocent kiss due to them being sisters and their joy after the difficult processes they had overcome, and that she was very ashamed to be there for such a crime.

REQUEST FOR UP TO 1 YEAR IN PRISON EACH

The prepared indictment requests that suspects Dilan Polat and Sinem Sıla Doğu be sentenced to 6 months to 1 year in prison each for the crime of 'lewd acts'. If the indictment sent to the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance is accepted, the trial of the suspects will begin in the coming days.
