Dilan Polat gives her first interview after being released from prison: 'I am not the first person to wear dollars on their head'
Dilan Polat, who is being tried with a request for a 40-year prison sentence and was released after 10 months, has given her first interview. Stating that she realized her mistakes while in prison, Polat said, "I made posts that ignored the sensitive points of society; I will be more sensible from now on."
Dilan Polat, who is being tried on charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "laundering assets derived from crime," and "violating the Betting Law," spoke to Sabah Newspaper after her release. Polat stated that she faced unfair accusations and a lynch mob mentality from the public during the process she went through.
''A LYNCH MOB MENTALITY BEGAN IN THE PUBLIC EYE''
Dilan Polat stated that a lynch campaign began against her in the public eye and that they were unable to make their voices heard during this process. "While a new allegation was made every day, the evidence in our favor was ignored," said Polat, expressing that the public was misled even before an indictment was prepared. "Accusations of 'money laundering' and 'betting' were made without any evidence, but no one asked, 'where is the document?'" she said.

''WE WERE SACRIFICED FOR ENGAGEMENT''
Polat stated that the presumption of innocence was violated by the media, saying, "For the sake of ratings, we were declared guilty on social media and in traditional media. While there was a confidentiality order on the investigation, they targeted us without having any evidence in hand." Polat also emphasized that the news reports were based on baseless tips and the false statements of convicts.

''I IGNORED THE SENSITIVITIES OF SOCIETY''
Stating that she confronted herself during her days in prison, Polat admitted that she had made posts that inadvertently ignored the sensitive points of society and said the following:
“I realized that my posts were cut and presented in a malicious way for the sake of ratings. From now on, I will share more careful and sensible content."
''I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO WEAR DOLLARS ON THEIR HEAD''
Addressing the posts of her wearing dollars and showing off, which were the most criticized on social media, Polat said, "I am not the first person in the world to wear dollars on their head or receive roses from their husband. And these dollars were fake." Stating that her posts received negative reactions due to the economic difficulties experienced in society, Polat said, "I will act more sensitively and carefully."

''THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE WAS VIOLATED''
Polat also shared an important detail regarding the trial process. In the 908-page review report prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, it was underlined that the Polat Group of Companies is a family business and not an organization established for the purpose of committing a crime. The report clearly stated that there were no criminal elements regarding the transactions made.
''SOCIAL MEDIA HAS TURNED INTO A LARGE OPERATION APPARATUS''
Stating that social media has turned into a large operation apparatus for the sake of ratings and engagement, Polat expressed that justice was sacrificed to this desire for engagement. "Justice caused us to be lynched on social media by ignoring the presumption of innocence," she said.
