Dilek İmamoğlu's brother Ali Kaya arrested
Ali Kaya, the brother of Dilek İmamoğlu, has been arrested as part of a 'narcotics and prostitution' investigation.
The investigation into "narcotics" and "prostitution" conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is ongoing.
In this context, 21 individuals who were taken into custody were referred to the courthouse; the suspects' statements have been completed.
Of the 21 individuals detained, 19 were referred to the duty magistrate judge with a request for arrest, while judicial control was requested for 2 people.
14 PEOPLE ARRESTED
The court issued arrest warrants for 14 people and ruled for the release of seven others under judicial control conditions.
Among those arrested is Ali Kaya, the brother of Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu, the wife of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu.
WHAT HAPPENED?
As part of the narcotics and prostitution investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention warrants were issued for 27 suspects on charges of "possession of drugs or stimulants for personal use," "facilitating the use of drugs," and "encouraging, facilitating, mediating, or providing a venue for prostitution."
Of the 27 suspects for whom detention warrants were issued, 21 were taken into custody.
On April 29, 2025, 18 of the 52 people detained in the second wave of an investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality were arrested.
Among those arrested were Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu's older brother, Cevat Kaya, and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Boğaziçi Zoning Manager, Elçin Karaoğlu.
