Directorate General of Maritime Affairs: No request from crew to abandon ship VIRAT
The Directorate General of Maritime Affairs has announced that the crew of the ship VIRAT has not requested to abandon the vessel.
In a statement regarding the matter on the Directorate General of Maritime Affairs' social media account, it was stated, "There is no fire or emergency situation on the VIRAT ship, which sustained damage off the Black Sea.
The crew has no request to abandon the ship.
Against a possible situation, a tugboat with firefighting and towing capabilities has been dispatched to the region under the coordination of our Zonguldak Regional Port Authority," the statement read.
Additionally, in a statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure regarding the ship KAIROS, it was said, "Our NENE HATUN Emergency Response Ship and our KURTARMA-12 Tugboat are intervening in the ongoing fire on the ship named 'KAIROS', which was reported to have experienced an explosion and fire off the Black Sea while en route to Russia."
