Discord removed from app stores in Turkey
Following the sharing of criminal content, the Discord application, which was previously blocked in Turkey, has now also been removed from the Apple App Store.
After it was determined that the Sur murderer Semih Çelik had shared similar content on the Discord application after murdering İkbal Uzuner and Ayşenur Halil, and that groups attempting to encourage crime were operating on the platform, measures began to be taken against the Discord application.
Following these events, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) announced on its website on October 10 that an access ban had been imposed on Discord in Turkey.
After it was reported that strict measures would be taken against the application, Discord's mobile app was removed from Apple's app stores in Turkey and the Google Play Store.
