DİSK's 'minimum wage' outburst: Even below official inflation

In a post on social media, DİSK stated, "The government and capital have once again determined the minimum wage unilaterally. With a minimum wage increase that is even below the official inflation rate that no one believes, millions of workers and their families have become even poorer."

The Minimum Wage Commission held its 4th meeting this evening. The TÜRK-İŞ Board of Directors decided not to attend the meeting, which was held without any prior briefing regarding the minimum wage proposal.

Making a statement after the meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that the minimum wage had been increased by 30 percent, stating that the new net minimum wage for 2025 would be 22,104 TL. The state subsidy for employers has also been increased from 700 lira to 1,000 lira.

While reactions from citizens and the opposition to the minimum wage continue, another reaction came from DİSK. In a post on the social media platform X, DİSK included the following statements:

"The government and capital have once again determined the minimum wage unilaterally. With a minimum wage increase that is even below the official inflation rate that no one believes, millions of workers and their families have become even poorer. This minimum wage, which was communicated through a rushed meeting where workers were not even represented, is null and void. The working class will repel this imposition of misery by organizing and joining unions."
