Dismissed by decree: Academic for Peace Bülent Şık reinstated to his position
Academic for Peace Bülent Şık, who was dismissed from his position at Akdeniz University for signing the declaration titled 'We Will Not Be a Party to This Crime,' has been reinstated to his post by a court decision.
Academic for Peace Bülent Şık, who was dismissed from his position at Akdeniz University on November 22, 2016, via a Statutory Decree (KHK) for signing the "We will not be a party to this crime" declaration, has been reinstated to his position after seven and a half years.
The decision for reinstatement regarding Şık, whose employment was terminated by Decree-Law No. 677, was issued by the Ankara 27th Administrative Court.
"I WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TO DEFEND SOCIAL PEACE AND PUBLIC WELFARE"
Sharing a post on his social media account, Şık stated the following:
"I have been reinstated to my faculty position at Akdeniz University, from which I was removed on November 22, 2016, by Decree-Law No. 677, following the decision rendered by the Ankara 27th Administrative Court. I will continue to work to defend social peace and public welfare, both within and outside the academy."
