The production titled "Atatürk 1881-1919," which tells the life story of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and was allegedly not aired by Disney Plus due to pressure, has begun to be released on another online streaming platform.
Directed by Mehmet Ada Öztekin and starring Aras Bulut İynemli, the Atatürk film and series, which depicts segments from the youth of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, will be released on Prime Video Turkey.
The first film will be released on September 9, and the second film on October 29, the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. The series version will be available to watch on Prime Video Turkey starting November 10.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Disney Plus, which had included the Atatürk series and film among its projects when it began broadcasting in Turkey, had announced that instead of airing it in its own library, it would bring it to viewers as two films on television and in cinemas.
Disney Plus, which drew backlash from Turkish subscribers due to allegations that the decision was made under political pressure, explained the situation as a "change in content strategy."
While Mehmet Ada Öztekin directed the production and Necati Şahin wrote the screenplay, the cast includes Aras Bulut İynemli as Mustafa Kemal, Songül Öden as Zübeyde Hanım, Sarp Akkaya as Enver Pasha, and Esra Bilgiç as Madame Corinne. The production team also includes historical consultants Orhan Çekiç, Saadet Özen, and Hacı Mehmet Duranoğlu, military consultant Tuncel Koç, military costume consultant Kadir Türker Geçer, and Ottoman Turkish consultant Üzeyir Karataş.
