Divorce and hot dog penalties in North Korea

The Kim Jong Un regime in North Korea has introduced another peculiar ban as part of its efforts to curb Western culture.

 Eating or selling hot dogs in the country will be considered "treason," and those who commit this offense will be punished in notorious labor camps.

According to reports in the British press, foods such as hot dogs and "budae-jjigae" (army base stew), which became popular in South Korea inspired by the US, are viewed as symbols of capitalist culture in North Korea. These dishes, which emerged from supplies left behind by US soldiers during the Korean War in the 1950s and are known to have spread from South to North Korea, have now been banned as they are considered "enemy culture."

PRISON SENTENCES FOR DIVORCE 

It is not just food; divorces are also facing the brunt of the Pyongyang regime's harsh measures. The administration, which characterizes divorce as an "anti-socialist act," holds individuals who commit this offense in labor camps for periods ranging from one to six months.

According to statements from a North Korean woman, women who divorce receive harsher penalties compared to men. The woman stated, "There are 30 men and women in labor camps imprisoned for divorce. The women's sentences are longer and more difficult."
