Diyanet files criminal complaint against Feyza Altun

Diyanet files criminal complaint against Feyza Altun

A criminal complaint was filed against lawyer Feyza Altun by the legal advisors of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

In the submitted petition, it was alleged that Altun, "with her post regarding Sharia, exceeded the boundaries of morality and decency, openly attacked human rights, and insulted religious beliefs and values, which are among the most fundamental dynamics that hold society together."

The petition claimed that Altun's posts were "contrary to the Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights, and that the post was of a disparaging, rude, harsh, hurtful, and insulting nature, constituting an attack on the religious beliefs, sacred values, and principles of citizens."

PUBLIC PROSECUTION REQUESTED

The petition requested that a public case be opened against Altun for the crimes of "insulting religious and sacred values, and inciting the public to hatred and hostility."
