Sakarya MP Dikbayır announced in a statement on his social media account that the Presidency of Religious Affairs had initiated an administrative investigation into Konakcı, writing the following:
"Last week, I filed a written complaint with the Presidency of Religious Affairs regarding the individual named Halil Konakcı. As part of the administrative investigation opened, Chief Inspector of the Presidency of Religious Affairs İbrahim Öztürk and Deputy Director Hüseyin Akdağ visited me to consult my testimony. I delivered all the documents subject to the complaint to them in a file and provided the necessary information. I would like to state that I will be following the matter and wish them ease in their work."
Who is Halil Konakcı?
Born in 1980 in the Eşrefpaşa district of İzmir, Halil Konakcı graduated from an Imam Hatip High School and later received theological education, serving as an imam-hatip and preacher within the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Having served in various regions of Turkey, Konakcı has delivered sermons at the Melike Hatun Mosque in Ankara and the Mihraplı Mosque in Bursa. Active on social media, Halil Konakcı has drawn attention with his outspoken style and effective speeches on religious topics.
