DMM issues statement regarding claims about forest fires in İzmir

The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) has reported that claims stating "the necessary intervention is not being made for the fires in İzmir" are disinformation.

In the statement issued by the DMM, it was noted that the claims shared by some social media accounts, "the necessary intervention is not being made for the fires in İzmir," are disinformation.

Providing information regarding the fires in İzmir, the statement indicated that intervention efforts for the fire in the Yamanlar neighborhood of İzmir's Karşıyaka district are continuing with a total of 596 vehicles, including 5 aircraft, 11 helicopters, 127 fire trucks, 13 riot control vehicles (TOMA), 68 water tankers, and other vehicles, along with 2,965 personnel. It was also reported that a total of 800 citizens have been evacuated, including 170 in Sancaklı neighborhood, 500 in Doğançay neighborhood, 50 in Zübeyde neighborhood, and 80 in Onur neighborhood.

It was stated that the fire in the Yeniyurt neighborhood of the Beydağ district is being addressed by 1 aircraft, 4 helicopters, and 10 ground vehicles belonging to the İzmir General Directorate of Forestry (OGM).

The following was recorded in the statement regarding fires in other regions of İzmir:

"The forest fire that started at 19:05 in the Eskioba neighborhood of the Tire district is being addressed by 1 helicopter, 3 fire trucks, 1 water tanker, 10 teams from municipalities, and 1 bulldozer belonging to the İzmir OGM. Power has been cut in the region. Two houses in the Karateke neighborhood and 2 houses in the İbni Melek neighborhood have been evacuated. One AFAD team and district gendarmerie teams have been assigned to the region. The forest fire that started at 20:26 in the Yeşilova neighborhood of the Bayındır district is being addressed by 7 fire trucks, 3 water tankers, 10 teams from municipalities, and 2 water tankers belonging to the İzmir OGM. One AFAD team and district gendarmerie teams have been assigned to the region.

In the Yeşilova neighborhood, 50 households and 100 of our citizens have been evacuated. Evacuation efforts have begun in the Elifli neighborhood. 78 people have been affected by the forest fire in İzmir. 29 people are continuing their treatment in the hospital. 10 ambulances, 3 UMKE teams, and 42 healthcare personnel have been assigned to the region. Of the 72 fires across the country, 45 have been brought under control, and interventions are continuing for 27 fires."
