DMM responds to claims that Turkey will invade Iran

The US-based media outlet Bloomberg has brought a notable claim to the agenda regarding the Ankara–Tehran line. The report alleged that Turkey is working on various security scenarios in response to a possible US attack on Iran.

According to the claim in question, it was suggested that creating a “buffer zone” within Iranian territory to prevent a potential mass migration wave is among the options on the table.

OFFICIAL RESPONSE FROM ANKARA TO THE CLAIMS

Following the report, which caused widespread repercussions in the public sphere, the Center for Combating Disinformation, under the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, issued a written statement.

The statement emphasized that the claims appearing in some media outlets do not reflect the truth and that the public is being misled.

The following statements were included in the announcement made by the DMM:

"The claims appearing in some media outlets that 'Turkey plans to occupy Iranian territory for security reasons in the event that the US attacks Iran' contain disinformation.

Our state, which always respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of neighboring countries, takes the necessary measures on a 24/7 basis to ensure our border security, regardless of whether there are crises or not.

It is important that the public does not give credence to unverified claims and takes into account the statements of official institutions."
