DMM statement on claims that 'an American military base in Turkey was hit'
The Center for Combating Disinformation has announced that claims circulating on social media regarding an American military base in Turkey being hit do not reflect the truth.
The Center for Combating Disinformation, affiliated with the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, issued a written statement regarding claims shared on some social media accounts that "an American military base in Turkey has been hit."
The statement noted that the claims in question are untrue, stating, "There is no military base belonging to any country in Turkey." It was emphasized that the Republic of Turkey's airspace, land, and maritime territory, as well as its military facilities, are entirely under its own sovereignty and control.
The statement made by the DMM is as follows:
“Claims appearing on some social media accounts that 'an American military base in Turkey has been hit' are not true.
There is no military base belonging to any country in Turkey. The Republic of Turkey's airspace, land, and maritime territory, as well as its military facilities, are entirely under its own sovereignty and control. There is no attack against our country, and posts attempting to portray Turkey as a party to regional conflicts are a clear attempt at disinformation.
Turkey's defense and security structure is on duty with all its elements, and processes are being monitored instantly by the relevant institutions. It is kindly requested that the public not give credence to baseless claims and only take into account statements from official authorities.”
