DMM issues statement on 'reports of restrictions on green passports in Europe'

The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) has refuted the claim that "Green and gray passport holders will have to pay 7 euros for travel to Europe, and those who are rejected will not be able to enter the EU." In a statement, the DMM said, "The claim that Turkish service (gray) and special (green) passport holders will be required to obtain electronic pre-approval within the framework of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) before entering the Schengen area is baseless."

DMM issues statement on 'reports of restrictions on green passports in Europe'

The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) has issued a statement regarding the claim that "Green and gray passport holders will have to pay 7 euros for travel to Europe, and those who are rejected will not be able to enter the EU."

The statement, which reported that the claim is not true, noted that the official website of the European Union contains information that 30 European countries have introduced a "requirement to have ETIAS travel authorization" for citizens of visa-exempt countries traveling to these nations.

Emphasizing that Turkey is not on the list of countries subject to ETIAS travel authorization, the statement included the following remarks:

"The claim that Turkish service (gray) and special (green) passport holders will be required to obtain electronic pre-approval within the framework of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) before entering the Schengen area is baseless. The ETIAS system will not apply to Turkish citizens holding service and special passports who have the right to enter the Schengen area without a visa. Do not give credence to baseless claims aimed at manipulating public opinion."
