Dog fighting raid in a wooded area! Legal action taken against 23 people

Teams from the Morality Bureau and the Environmental, Nature and Animal Protection Bureau received information that dog fights were being held and bets were being placed in a wooded area in Sarıyer. Investigating the information obtained, the police identified the location where the dog fight was to take place.

An operation was carried out in the identified wooded area in Sarıyer at around 05:00 in the morning. During the operation, Bilal Ş. (24), who organized the dog fights, and 23 people who were betting were apprehended. The dog used for fighting by the suspect, who was found to have 9 prior criminal records, was seized.

FINES ISSUED

A total of 97 thousand 320 TL in fines was issued to the detained suspects in accordance with Article 34 of the Misdemeanors Law. The 24 thousand 350 TL in cash seized during the gambling activity, 5 dog bells, a 120 cm long stick used as a separator in dog fights, and 1 dog training bell were confiscated and delivered to the police station. The dog used in the fight was handed over to the Sarıyer Municipality.
