Double warning from the Meteorological Service
According to the August 7 report by the MGM, temperatures will remain above seasonal norms; showers are expected in some regions, and dust transport is expected in the Southeast.
The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has published its weather forecast report for Friday, August 7, 2026. According to the report, no significant change is expected in temperatures across the country; air temperatures are generally expected to remain above seasonal norms.
It was reported that the northern parts of the country and the Mediterranean will be partly to, at times, very cloudy; local showers and thunderstorms are expected in some regions. Citizens were asked to be careful and take precautions due to the dust transport expected in the east of Southeastern Anatolia.

REGIONS WHERE SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED
According to the latest assessments by the MGM, local showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Taurus Mountains section of the Mediterranean, the Eastern Black Sea coast, and the surroundings of Ordu, Artvin, Kars, and Ardahan, as well as the western parts of Istanbul and the northern parts of Çanakkale.

The wind is expected to blow generally from the north, and from southerly directions in the southern and eastern parts, lightly to occasionally moderately. It is assessed that the dust transport could lead to negative conditions such as a decrease in visibility, a reduction in air quality, and disruptions in transportation.



WEATHER BY REGION
In Marmara, the weather will be partly to slightly cloudy. Local showers and thunderstorms are expected in the western parts of Istanbul and the north of Çanakkale in the morning hours. The highest temperature of the day is estimated to be 32 degrees in Istanbul, 33 in Bursa, 34 in Kırklareli, and 35 degrees in Çanakkale.

While generally slightly cloudy and clear weather is foreseen in the Aegean, partly cloudy weather will be seen in some inland areas. While the temperature is expected to rise to 39 degrees in Aydın and Denizli, it is estimated to be 34 degrees in İzmir and 36 degrees in Muğla.

Partly and slightly cloudy weather will prevail in the Mediterranean. As cloudiness increases in the inland and eastern parts, local showers and thunderstorms may be seen around the Taurus Mountains. 35 degrees is expected in Adana, 32 in Antalya and Hatay, and 36 degrees in Burdur.

In Central Anatolia, the weather will be partly and slightly cloudy. The highest temperature is estimated to be 35 degrees in Ankara, 33 in Eskişehir, 34 in Konya, and 29 degrees in Yozgat. While partly and slightly cloudy weather is expected in the Western Black Sea, it is foreseen to be 30 degrees in Bolu, 32 in Düzce, 34 in Kastamonu, and 27 degrees in Zonguldak.


In the Central and Eastern Black Sea, the weather will be partly and very cloudy. Local showers and thunderstorms are expected on the Eastern Black Sea coast and in the surroundings of Ordu and Artvin. 29 degrees is estimated in Rize, 28 in Trabzon, 30 in Samsun, and 34 degrees in Amasya.


While generally slightly cloudy and clear weather is expected in Eastern Anatolia, cloudiness will increase in the northeastern parts. Local showers and thunderstorms are estimated in the surroundings of Kars and Ardahan during the noon hours. In Southeastern Anatolia, the weather will be slightly cloudy and clear; dust transport is expected in the east of the region. It is foreseen that the temperature will reach 40 degrees in Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa.
