Downpour and storm warning for 3 districts in Istanbul
The Governor's Office announced that heavy rainfall is expected in Şile, Pendik, and Tuzla from tonight until Wednesday noon; wind speeds could reach 80 km in higher elevations.
The Istanbul Governor's Office has issued a downpour and storm warning for the city following the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology. According to the statement, the weather in Istanbul is expected to be partly to very cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms anticipated across the city.
It was reported that the rainfall will be locally effective throughout the province today and will intensify in the eastern part of the Anatolian Side on Wednesday, September 30. The Governor's Office announced that heavy rainfall is expected, particularly in Şile, Pendik, and Tuzla, starting from the early hours of tonight until Wednesday noon.
It is estimated that the wind will also increase in intensity along with the rainfall on Wednesday. The wind, expected to blow from the north and northeast, is stated to reach speeds between 40 and 70 kilometers per hour from the morning hours until midnight, and could reach 80 kilometers per hour in some higher areas.
The Governor's Office urged citizens to be cautious against negative consequences such as floods, water inundation, lightning, landslides, and disruptions in transportation. The statement also called for precautions against risks such as roof dislodgement and the toppling of trees and utility poles.
