WHO IS NAİM BABÜROĞLU?

Naim Babüroğlu was born in Antakya in 1960. He completed his primary and secondary education in Antakya. He graduated from Kuleli Military High School in 1977, the Turkish Military Academy in 1981, and the Infantry School in 1982. He served as a Platoon, Company, Battalion, and Regiment Commander in various units of the Land Forces Command, including in Cyprus.

After graduating from the Army War College as a Staff Captain in 1992, he was appointed to the Hakkâri Mountain and Commando Brigade Command. Subsequently, he continued his duties as a faculty member and planning officer at the Army War College. He completed his studies at the Armed Forces Academy in 1995. Between 1996 and 1997, he served as a United Nations Military Observer officer in Kuwait and Iraq, representing the Turkish Armed Forces. Following his battalion command duty, he served as a Force Planning Officer at NATO Headquarters in Belgium from 1998 to 2001.

He worked at the General Staff Headquarters between 2001 and 2004. From 2004 to 2006, he served as the Van Border Regiment Commander, responsible for approximately 300 kilometers of the border between Iğdır and Yüksekova. He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in 2006 and was appointed as the Commander of the 1st Infantry Training Brigade in Manisa. Between 2009 and 2011, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations of the Aegean Army.

His military journey, which began at age 14 when he won the Military High School entrance exam thanks to the virtues and teachers of the Republic from a village in Anatolia where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was deeply loved, lasted 37 years and he retired in 2011 while holding the rank of Brigadier General.

He received an English Teaching Certificate from the University of Cambridge. He earned a Master's degree in Human Communication and Relations from the University of Oklahoma in the USA, and in National Security and International Relations from the War Academies Command in Turkey. He completed his doctoral studies in the field of History of the Republic.

He is a recipient of the "United Nations Medal."

The author's books published by İnkılâp Kitabevi are: "Cumhuriyet’in Sonbaharı-Beni Hatırlayınız" (2020), "Kemalyeri" (2020), "Çanakkale 1915-Almanların Büyük Tuzağı" (2020), "22 Gün 22 Gece Sakarya" (2020), and "Tarihin Kıskandığı Lider" (2021).

Additionally, the author has two other books titled "Gözlemler" (1998) and "Bir Devletin Çöküşü-Stratejik Derinlikten Bozguna" (2016).
