Draft regulation on tobacco products prepared! That phrase will now appear on cigarette packs
Changes are planned for the regulation concerning the production and trade of tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, and hookah tobacco.
Significant changes are expected in the legislation regarding the packaging and sale of tobacco products in Turkey. In the new draft prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, coding information indicating the production date and location will be placed on the packs of tobacco products such as cigarettes.
According to a report by Mithat Yurdakul from the Milliyet newspaper, the retail prices of these products will now be clearly stated on the packs as "... TL".
During the production process, it will become mandatory to obtain a Production and Activity Compliance Certificate for tobacco products. Furthermore, applications for tobacco products to be released to the market will be expanded to include not only the physical and chemical properties of the products but also the levels of harmful substances released into the atmosphere during use. These emission levels will be inspected to determine whether they are within the established legal limits.
Permissions granted for cigarette packaging machines will need to be reported to the General Directorate of the Mint and Stamp Printing House.
