Driver who slapped father in front of his children in Gebze arrested

The incident occurred in the morning hours in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood of Gebze. A father, who was taking his children to school, warned the driver of a speeding SUV. Following this, the SUV driver, Ozan Canyürek, reversed his vehicle, stopped, and began arguing with the father. During the argument, Canyürek slapped the father and fled the scene. These moments were captured by an apartment building's security camera, and the footage spread rapidly on social media.

Ozan Canyürek was taken into custody following the incident and was arrested after his interrogation by the prosecutor's office. His 17-year-old brother, C.C., who was with him, was placed under house arrest. It was learned that Canyürek operates an entertainment venue in Kartal, Istanbul.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated in a post on social media that the incident threatened the peace and security of society, announcing that the driver had been arrested as part of an investigation launched for the crimes of "Intentional Injury" and "Endangering Traffic Safety."

Neighborhood residents expressed their outrage, stating that the incident could leave deep scars on the children. Abdullah Kurt said, "Hitting a father in front of his child leaves deep marks on that child's future life." Another resident, Mustafa Bal, praised the father's mature behavior and expressed his wish that such incidents would not happen again.

Ozan Canyürek and his brother were referred to the courthouse after their processing at the police station.
