Drug investigation: Requested sentence for Sadettin Saran and Ela Rümeysa Cebeci revealed
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has requested a sentence of no less than 10 years for Sadettin Saran and Ela Rümeysa Cebeci for the crime of supplying drugs.
The indictment prepared against businessman Sadettin Saran and presenter Ela Rümeysa Cebeci as part of a drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been completed. The prosecution has requested that both individuals be sentenced to no less than 10 years each for the crime of "Trading or Supplying Narcotic or Stimulant Substances."
The indictment has been sent to the Istanbul High Criminal Court for evaluation. If the court accepts the indictment, the trial process for Saran and Cebeci will begin.

As part of the investigation, Cebeci had previously been detained twice and was arrested following the second detention. Cebeci, who spent approximately 4 months in prison, was later released. Saran was released under judicial control after being detained.
EVIDENCE IN THE INDICTMENT
According to the report in Sabah, the indictment states that the investigation began on December 18, 2025, based on the statements of a secret witness codenamed "Kanarya." It was reported that proceedings were initially initiated against Cebeci, and in the subsequent process, numerous correspondences were found on Cebeci's phone that were evaluated as being related to the use, supply, and cultivation of cannabis with Sadettin Saran.

The prosecution included in the indictment that there were searches on Cebeci's phone for products such as "THC-containing electronic cigarettes" and "Elf THC Strawberry Mango Haze." It was also stated that the phrase "Actually, I really miss Miami and smoking THC," which was noted as being translated from English, was included in the file as digital evidence.
The WhatsApp correspondence between Saran and Cebeci was also given extensive space in the indictment. It was stated that the content of the messages was not limited to the allegation of use, but according to the prosecution, it also demonstrated an intent regarding the supply of narcotic substances. The file also included the allegation that Cebeci requested substances in her correspondence with third parties by saying, "Don't forget my THC, I want to get high."
Forensic Medicine Institute reports were also among the notable headings in the indictment. According to the report, Saran and Cebeci's cocaine tests came back positive. The prosecution evaluated that the hair analyses, in particular, pointed to past use and that the reports contradicted the suspects' defenses.
It was reported that in her statement to the prosecutor, Cebeci said she first used cannabis, which is sold legally in Miami, in 2021; and that after returning to Turkey, she tried to obtain the same substance from friends coming from abroad. It was stated that Cebeci denied the accusations of using cocaine and argued that some of the messages were references to the Pablo Escobar productions they watched together.

It was noted that in his statement, Saran also said that the correspondence consisted of humorous conversations held approximately 17-18 months ago. It was stated that Saran claimed the phrase "We drank a lot" referred to a special wine brought from Croatia, and that the words "Pick it from the garden and bring it" stemmed from movie lines. Saran denied the allegations that he used cocaine and supplied narcotic substances.

The prosecution, however, included in the indictment the view that when all evidence is evaluated together, the correspondence cannot be accepted merely as humor or movie lines. The final decision regarding the two individuals will be made by the court during the trial process if the indictment is accepted.
