Drug lords on the run: Investigation launched into judge who ordered their release

The HSK Inspection Board has appointed an inspector to investigate the incident. The event brings to mind the midnight release of Iranian drug lord Zindaşti. It has been learned that the drug lords, for whom re-arrest warrants were issued 5 days later, have fled and that efforts are underway to apprehend them.

Within the scope of the 'Cherokee' investigation launched in the Netherlands, it was revealed that the gang was led by Dutch drug lord Joseph Johannes Leijdekkers, and the baron of the Turkish leg was Abdullah Alp Üstün.

A lawsuit had been filed against 51 suspects caught in operations against drug traffickers last year, with demands for up to 82 years in prison. According to the report by Halit Turan from Sabah; 15 detained suspects, including Abdullah Alp Üstün, appeared before the Istanbul 15th High Criminal Court.

Following the hearing, which lasted until 02:30 on Friday night, the presiding judge ordered the release of all 15 suspects, despite the trial prosecutor's request for the continued detention of all defendants.

BROTHER OF MOST-WANTED GANG LEADER ALSO RELEASED

Among those released is Wilhelmus Adrianus Leijdekkers, the brother of Jos Leijdekkers, one of the most-wanted gang leaders in the Netherlands.

It was determined that 31-year-old Wilhelmus Adrianus Leijdekkers laundered the money the gang obtained from drugs and had been living in Turkey for some time.

CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE OBJECTED

Following the releases, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office objected to the court's decision.

Reviewing the objections, the Istanbul 16th High Criminal Court decided to re-arrest Abdullah Alp Üstün, his son Efe Alp Üstün, Aziz Demir, Bahadır Mert Oğur, Eric Schroeder, Selçuk Aydın, and Wilhelmus Adrianus Leijdekkers 5 days after their release.

The court rejected the objection made against the judicial control measures and the international travel ban for 8 other suspects.

It has been learned that Abdullah Alp Üstün, his son Efe Alp Üstün, Aziz Demir, Bahadır Mert Oğur, Eric Schroeder, Selçuk Aydın, and Wilhelmus Adrianus Leijdekkers, for whom re-arrest warrants were issued 5 days after their release, have fled and that efforts are being carried out to capture them.

INVESTIGATION PERMISSION GRANTED FOR THAT JUDGE

The 1st Chamber of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors, with the approval of Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, granted permission for an investigation into the presiding judge, Oktay A., who ordered the release of the 15 suspects despite the evidence in the file and the detailed MASAK report prepared regarding money laundering.

Following the investigation permission, an inspector was appointed by the HSK Inspection Board to investigate the releases. After the report to be prepared by the inspectors, the investigation file will be sent to the 2nd Chamber of the HSK.
