Drug test result for Ali Kaya, brother of Dilek İmamoğlu, who was arrested in a drug investigation, is negative

Ali Kaya, the brother of Dilek İmamoğlu, wife of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, was detained following a witness statement, then arrested by the court on February 7 and sent to prison. The charges attributed to Kaya included "possession of drugs for personal use" and "facilitating the use of drugs."

Following his arrest, Kaya was referred to the Council of Forensic Medicine, where his blood and urine samples were analyzed for drug use. It was reported that the test results came back negative, indicating that no illicit substances were found in Ali Kaya's system.

STATEMENT FROM DİLEK İMAMOĞLU

Following the negative test result, Dilek İmamoğlu addressed the Ministry of Justice in a post on her social media account.

Dilek İmamoğlu stated the following:

"Today, the result of the drug test performed on my brother, Ali Kaya, came back NEGATIVE.

So, what happens now? What should happen is his immediate release.

I am asking now; who will be held accountable for this heavy price paid by someone who should not have been kept in prison for even 1 hour?

Reputations are being damaged, families are being worn down, and shadows are being cast over lives. These things have no benefit to our country; on the contrary, trust in the judiciary is decreasing day by day because of these events.

Pressuring families does not give anyone power; it only wounds the conscience of society and shakes trust in justice.

Trial without detention is essential; all our prisoners should be released immediately and the process should shift to trial without detention.

That is why I am saying it once again, as clearly as possible:

Stay away from families.

Do not make families targets.

Stop instrumentalizing the law."
