Drugs discovered in garden on UNESCO list in Diyarbakır
In a drug operation conducted in the Hevsel Gardens in Diyarbakır, 7 thousand 25 cannabis plants were seized. The cannabis plants, estimated to have a market value of 140 million TL, were destroyed on-site.
In Diyarbakır, 7 thousand 25 cannabis plants were seized during a drug operation conducted in and around the Hevsel Gardens, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The operation, coordinated by the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch, was supported by the Special Operations and Aviation Branch Directorates.
During the operation carried out on September 17, cannabis plants were identified in 22 different locations. It was determined that the suspects had set up tents in the area to create living spaces to protect the cultivation sites and were using water pumps to irrigate from the Tigris River.
The cannabis plants, which have an estimated market value of 140 million TL, were destroyed on-site after samples were taken.
