e-Nabız, containing health data of millions of citizens, reportedly sold to Qatar
It has been revealed that the e-Nabız application, which contains the data of millions of citizens in Turkey, was sold to Qatar for approximately 100 million dollars by the Bilbest company, owned by former AKP Youth Branch President Adem Ali Yılmaz.
While the sale of real estate and major businesses to Qataris has been a subject of debate, a new one has been added to these scandals.
It has been revealed that the e-Nabız application was sold to Qataris for approximately 100 million dollars. It was learned that the sale, which drew great reaction, was carried out by a company owned by a former AKP Youth Branch President.
Umut Elmas, who announced that the sale, which drew great reaction, had taken place, was allegedly held against his will in a building belonging to the Ministry of Health.
"I WAS THREATENED TO DELETE THE TWEET"
Umut Elmas made statements regarding the issue to Halk TV programmer Barış Terkoğlu. Terkoğlu included Elmas's statements in his column for the Cumhuriyet newspaper.
Elmas described how the process began and the pressures he faced with the following words:
"In 2022, I learned that the e-Nabız project was sold to Qatar for approximately 100 million dollars by a company called TİGA, owned by Adem Ali Yılmaz, a former member of the AKP youth branch MKYK and Head of R&D. I posted a tweet questioning the company on August 6, 2022.
I was told to delete the tweet by Deputy Minister Şuayip Birinci, who threatened that I would not be able to do business in Turkey, and even that I would 'not be able to earn a living.' I did not delete it and resigned.
My closest colleague, Filiz Gül, was subjected to the same threat and submitted her resignation. The Ministry, ignoring my formal notice, terminated my contract citing my tweet. Similarly, they ignored the formal notice for Filiz and directed embezzlement accusations against her, citing a computer belonging to the Ministry."
"I WAS HELD AGAINST MY WILL AT THE MINISTRY"
On the night of September 16, 2022, İlkay Kaynak, an employee of the unit I was coordinating, was held against her will in the ministry building for an entire night. She was subjected to psychological torture and her personal data was forcibly seized.
Following this incident, İlkay also submitted her resignation by sending a formal notice to the ministry detailing this detention incident. Ozan Beyhan, who was on the same team as me, also resigned because he was subjected to the same threats in absentia.
I was held against my will at the ministry for over 12 hours, from 17:30 on the evening of September 16, 2022, to around 06:30-06:45 on the morning of September 17, 2022. My electronic devices were examined."
