Earthquake in Tokat cracks roads: 'We could barely stand'

Following the 5.6 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in the Sulusaray district of Tokat, cracks have formed on some roads.

The cracks that appeared on the roads between Malum Seyit Tekke Neighborhood and Buğdaylı village in the Sulusaray district center have caused anxiety among the local residents.

Due to the cracks, it was observed that a slight subsidence occurred on the road, particularly on the road to Buğdaylı village. Retaining walls along the roadside also collapsed. In Tekke Neighborhood, two separate cracks were captured from the air via drone.

"WE COULD BARELY STAND"

Kadir Karaman, a resident of Tekke Neighborhood, said, "This is Malum Seyit Tekke Neighborhood. Buğdaylı village is further ahead. The earthquake started all of a sudden. My mother was inside and my father was on the balcony. It shook like a cradle in an instant. We could barely stand. My mother had a panic attack. She couldn't leave the house and sat there crying. My father and I managed to get her out with difficulty. It was very bad. As you can see, the roads have split. Walls have collapsed. The walls of the houses have collapsed. At least 150-200 meters of cracks have formed in the neighborhood. As you can see, walls and such have also collapsed. The retaining wall flew into the field."
