Earthquake meeting at AFAD without IMM: Yerlikaya, Kurum, and Memişoğlu make statements

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, and Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu are making statements at AFAD.

Yerlikaya's statements are as follows:

"Thank God, there has been no loss of life. There are also no injured citizens due to the earthquake. 16 thousand 712 calls were made to 112. Of these, 995 were emergency assistance requests related to the earthquake. The shelter requests of over 101 thousand of our citizens were met last night. The shelter needs of more than 101 thousand of our citizens were met last night.

Our state is in the field with all its institutions. Our Istanbul Police Chief and our Istanbul Gendarmerie are also in the field."

Yerlikaya also warned against entering buildings that are at risk.

Kurum noted the following:

"We have received a total of 1399 building reports from our citizens in Istanbul, primarily, as well as in Bursa, Balıkesir, Tekirdağ, and Yalova. So far, 7 of our buildings have minor damage.

Istanbul's only agenda should be the earthquake.

I want to address all our municipalities responsible for earthquake transformation.

In a place where the lives and future of 16 million Istanbulites are at stake, there is no room for politics or polemics. Politics is not done here, there is no polemic. It is time to join hands for the millions.

Today's negligence becomes tomorrow's disaster. If we delay any further, our loss will be much greater. We are getting through this earthquake with minor damage.

Today, let us join hands together. I want us to start the mobilization for the transformation of Istanbul together.'

Minister Memişoğlu's statements are as follows:

'It was determined that 60 people were injured in the earthquake that occurred yesterday. Of the injured, 55 are in Istanbul, 1 in Sakarya, 2 in Yalova, and 2 in Tekirdağ. The health status of our injured citizens is good; there is no serious problem.

I would like to thank all our healthcare personnel for managing this process well.

Our request from all our citizens is to remain calm during such moments of panic. Our institutions have been continuing their work on what needs to be done by joining forces as of today.'
