Efforts to contain Denizli wildfire continue on day 6
Ground and aerial operations continue against the forest fire that broke out 6 days ago on Karcı Mountain in the Merkezefendi district of Denizli. Efforts are ongoing with all state resources and the participation of volunteers to bring the fire, which is spreading toward the Tavas district, under control.
The forest fire that broke out on Thursday, October 24, 2024, on Karcı Mountain, located within the borders of the Merkezefendi district of Denizli, continues. The fact that the burning area is generally characterized by maquis shrubland, is situated in a valley, and is dominated by rocky and steep slopes makes the work of the teams difficult. Due to the lack of access roads, ground intervention in the fire area can only be carried out to a limited extent. Helicopters participating in the aerial intervention also face difficulties from time to time in discharging water due to the valley structure of the region and the smoke generated.

While the fire, which continues in a rugged, rocky area where transportation is difficult, is being intensively intervened in from the air and ground, teams reaching the area via roads opened by construction machinery are trying to prevent the fire from advancing by creating firebreaks. Citizens supporting the efforts to stop the fire, which is moving toward the Çakıroluk location of the Tavas district, are transporting water to fire pools with their tractors.

It was stated that the fire does not pose any threat to residential areas, and it was noted that intensive aerial intervention was carried out at daybreak and that bringing it under control is a matter of time.
