The 11th Criminal Court of First Instance has decided to acquit Ege Akersoy, who was on trial for punching İsmail Aydemir, who was carrying a green 'Tawhid flag', of the charge of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility," while sentencing him to a 2,000 lira fine for the crime of 'intentional injury'.
The announcement of the verdict has been deferred.

On January 1, during a march organized by the National Will Platform under the leadership of the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) on the Galata Bridge in Istanbul, university student Ege Akersoy, who punched İsmail Aydemir, who was carrying a green flag inscribed with the 'Kalima Tawhid', was detained following the incident and arrested on charges of "publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility" and "intentional injury," and was sent to Marmara Prison in Silivri.
On January 17, a decision was made to release Akersoy under judicial control conditions.
