Critical warnings to parents from Eğitim-İş executive Cengiz Sarıyer: There is entry to Imam Hatip schools, but no exit

Eğitim-İş General Secretary Cengiz Sarıyer explained to 12punto the difficulties students face in the transfer process when they want to move from Imam Hatip schools to different schools. Emphasizing the importance of parents being determined during this process, Cengiz Sarıyer stated, "If the parent is determined, they can take their child. No school administration can stand against this."

PARENTS NEED TO STAND FIRM ON THIS ISSUE

Stating that school administrations make student transfers difficult, Sarıyer said, "The school administration may not want to grant a transfer to other schools, but parents need to stand firm on this issue. If the conditions are met, the school administration is obliged to accept the student." 

INCREDIBLE RESOURCES HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED

Furthermore, stating that Imam Hatip high schools have been used by the political power for years to reactionaryize education and society, Sarıyer said that incredible resources have been transferred to these schools and facilities have been provided throughout the AKP's 22-year rule.

PROVINCIAL AND DISTRICT NATIONAL EDUCATION DIRECTORS ARE APPLYING PRESSURE

Stating that despite the decrease in the number of students in Imam Hatip high schools, school administrators and Provincial and District National Education directors are pressuring students to enroll in these schools, Sarıyer said, "Great pressure is applied to school administrators during the middle school and high school exam process. This is a problem that has been going on for years."
