Egypt's move regarding Turkey: In contact with the US to prevent Turkish troops from entering Gaza!

As debates continue over the formation of an International Stabilization Force planned for deployment in Gaza, diplomatic tensions in the region have taken on a new dimension. The Lebanon-based newspaper Al-Akhbar has alleged that Egypt is in intensive contact with the United States (US) to prevent Turkey from participating in the aforementioned force.

EGYPT'S ABSENCE FROM ISTANBUL MEETING DRAWS ATTENTION

The report in the newspaper stated that the absence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty from the Foreign Ministers' meeting held in Istanbul recently, where Gaza-centric issues were discussed, is being evaluated as an indicator of Cairo's stance against Turkey's desire to join the Stabilization Force. It was stated that this situation is a new reflection of the growing diplomatic tension between the two countries.

CAIRO'S CONCERN OVER TURKEY

Egyptian sources speaking to Al-Akhbar claimed that Cairo has rejected Turkey's request to join the International Stabilization Force planned for deployment in Gaza. According to the sources, Egypt aims to ensure that Turkey takes on a broader role in the reconstruction process with this decision. However, it was noted that the Cairo administration is uncomfortable with the increase in Turkey's influence over Gaza.

THE ISRAEL FACTOR AND SECURITY CONCERNS

The report conveyed that Egypt's attitude is not limited to diplomatic reasons but is also fueled by security concerns. It was emphasized that Israel does not want the presence of Turkish soldiers in the Gaza Strip, and this situation also affects Egypt's stance. It was stated that Cairo is concerned about a change in the security balance on the Gaza border.

INTENSIVE TALKS WITH THE US AND REGIONAL COUNTRIES

According to Al-Akhbar's report, Egypt has increased its diplomatic contacts with the US to limit Turkey's influence in Gaza. It was alleged that the talks are being conducted within the framework of efforts by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to promote Turkey as an alternative actor to Egypt in Gaza.

TURKEY'S ROLE IN GAZA A SUBJECT OF DEBATE

Diplomatic sources in the region stated that Turkey aims to take a more active role in the process of rebuilding Gaza and ensuring its security, but this situation has caused discomfort in some Arab countries, primarily Egypt. It was noted that Israel, for its part, has openly opposed the deployment of Turkish troops in Gaza.
