Eid al-Adha rush fills airports

Passengers wishing to spend the holiday outside the city arrived at Istanbul Airport from the early hours of the morning. Traffic congestion formed at the entrance of the airport and on the road in front of the terminal. Teams from IGA, the operator of Istanbul Airport, directed passengers at the airport entrance and in the terminal. Passengers created a crowd at the X-ray control points at the entrance of the airport building.

After security checks, passengers arriving at the terminal queued at domestic and international counters for ticket and baggage procedures. Congestion occurred at both domestic and international counters.

Passengers at the Domestic Departures Terminal formed queues to board their flights.

Police teams tried to prevent congestion by opening all passport counters at the International Departures Terminal. Some citizens also used the e-passport counters. There was a short-term rush there as well. Today, 1,642 flights are expected to arrive and depart from Istanbul Airport, with 245 thousand 401 passengers expected to travel on these flights.

CONGESTION MEASURES AT SABİHA GÖKÇEN AIRPORT

Passengers wishing to travel to domestic and international destinations during Eid al-Adha also caused congestion at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport management has taken several measures to ensure that passengers can carry out their travels without problems during the holiday rush.

In this direction, the number of personnel was increased with additional planning for operations, security, and cleaning. The number of e-passport counters, which provide fast and easy passage with a process of approximately 20 seconds, was increased to 34, with 15 on the departures floor and 19 on the arrivals floor.

Arrangements were also made at a total of 110 X-ray points throughout the terminal to ensure fast entry of passengers into the airport.

While free and unlimited Wi-Fi access is offered at the airport, water dispensers have been placed in the terminal for free drinking water.

The cooling system capacity within the terminal has also been increased.

During this process, the innovative generative AI digital assistant SAVVy is also supporting passengers with instant responses and solutions regarding customer service issues.
