Ekrem İmamoğlu announces that the dean who stated his diploma was legal was forced to resign: 'They hounded him until he had enough'

İmamoğlu announced that Kamil Ahmet Köse, Dean of the Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration, who had confirmed the legality of his diploma following a complaint filed with CİMER 5 years ago, was forced to resign.

Speaking in Kastamonu, Ekrem İmamoğlu announced Köse's resignation with the following words:

"In this process, a report had previously been issued by my faculty to CİMER, which was questioning my diploma in 2020, stating that İmamoğlu's lateral transfer was appropriate in every respect. Even we only just learned about this report.

They asked in 2020, and the faculty responded. It even bears the signature of the professor who was the dean. They put so much pressure on Prof. Dr. Kamil Ahmet Köse, the dean who provided this report in 2020, and hounded him so much that... The veteran scientist was forced to resign.

What is their problem? They want to have Ekrem's diploma cancelled. This malice, this evil mindset, and the climate of fear created by this President is the price of the burden placed on decent, honest people. They even made a veteran scientist do this. May God set you on the right path.

HE SHOWED THE REPORT AND CALLED OUT TO THE RECTOR OF ISTANBUL UNIVERSITY

We will clearly understand what kind of treachery and what kind of evil we are facing. They are making this country go through a process of destroying everyone who does not rule against İmamoğlu. They did everything they could to force a scientist to resign just because he wrote the truth, and based on a letter he wrote 5 years ago. The dean is gone.

Now let us ask; while a faculty dean at my university is being forced to resign under such pressure, you, the esteemed Rector of Istanbul University, signed and sent a report on October 7, 2024. You prepared this report 4 months ago. In this report, you stated that Ekrem İmamoğlu met the requirements for transfer in 1990.

This country has never seen such oppression. You stated in this report that İmamoğlu fulfilled those conditions. Now I will follow this report closely. I will have this process followed. Will you deny this report you wrote as the rector of a 572-year-old university? They wrote it, but even who they sent it to is a secret. Who asked you for this report? You wrote it in a way that clears us, but you will tell us who you sent it to."

On February 15, 2020, a complaint was filed with CİMER regarding whether the lateral transfer made by Ekrem İmamoğlu in 1990 was unfair. CİMER forwarded this request to the Rectorate of Istanbul University for necessary action, and as a result of the investigation, a letter signed by Dean Prof. Dr. Kamil Ahmet Köse was sent to CİMER in March 2020, stating that the lateral transfer was legal.
