Ekrem İmamoğlu: I put my signature under the decision made by Özgür Özel

In his post regarding the agenda, İmamoğlu stated the following:

"I believe in the new political path opened by our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, his great struggle, and his leadership; I wholeheartedly support the superior determination he has demonstrated with all his warnings. I put my signature under the decision he made today."

The following text was included in the post as an explanation:

"My Dear Nation,

Turkey is at one of the important thresholds in its history. It is the responsibility of all of us to make peace, tranquility, and brotherhood permanent; and to strengthen democracy and the rule of law.

I believe in the new political path opened by our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, his great struggle, and his leadership; I wholeheartedly support the superior determination he has demonstrated with all his warnings. I put my signature under the decision he made today.

I agree with and value all the points raised, warned about, and proposed by our esteemed Mayor, Mr. Mansur Yavaş.

I find the inclusive and unifying peace wishes desired by Mr. Selahattin Demirtaş to be valuable.

However, this government's process management, sincerity, and record of transparency are flawed. For this reason, we will continue our struggle with an understanding of support and contribution toward solving problems on one hand, while on the other, we will perform our duty of oversight and our effort to inform our nation at the highest level.

Our Dear People,

The unitary structure of the Republic of Turkey, the indivisible integrity of our country, and the equality of our 86 million citizens are our common guarantee. We will strengthen our Republic with democracy, our unity with justice, and our state with the rule of law.

Turkey is not just a country that will ensure peace within itself. We will be a strong state that will be the guarantor of peace, stability, and prosperity in our region; drawing its strength from its law, its democracy, its economy, and the unity of its nation. This is what befits the greatness of Turkey and the seriousness of our state.

This issue cannot be left to daily political calculations, closed doors, and personal quests for advancement. The guarantee of the process is transparency, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), the law, and the will of the nation.

We will not surrender peace to political calculations.

We will not allow the distrust we feel toward political calculations to hold our hope for peace hostage.

Turkey has the strength to achieve this."
