Ekrem İmamoğlu: Our glorious flag will wave forever
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has made a statement regarding the lowering of the Turkish flag on the Nusaybin-Qamishli border.
In his statement regarding the attack, İmamoğlu said, "This nation's love for its flag is unlike that of any other nation. Our flag is the common value of these lands. I condemn this provocative act committed against the unity and integrity of our nation. Our glorious flag will wave forever."
The DEM Party held its group meeting this week at the Border Park in Nusaybin on the Qamishli border due to attacks on Kurdish neighborhoods in Syria. Following the meeting, a group headed toward the border.
It was observed that the Turkish flag on the border line in Qamishli had been lowered.
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications stated that the incident was an "obvious provocation" and announced that an investigation had been launched.
CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu shared a post about the incident on his social media account.
In his post, İmamoğlu used the following expressions:
"This nation's love for its flag is unlike that of any other nation. Our flag is the common value of these lands. I condemn this provocative act committed against the unity and integrity of our nation. Our glorious flag will wave forever."
